Understanding Stop the Bleed

Stop the Bleed, a national public health program, teaches bystanders how they can control bleeding that is life-threatening, during the critical minutes ahead of emergency responders. The course covers three interventions that save lives during trauma: applying a tourniquet, packing a wound, and direct pressure. Those trauma events run from car wrecks and injuries at work to active-violence incidents.
