About the Class

Built for childcare providers, coaches, teachers and school staff, parents and grandparents, fitness professionals, construction companies, churches, community organizations, other businesses, and anyone ready to learn lifesaving skills.

Ways to Train

  • Classroom: This option is instructor-led and hands-on.
  • Blended Learning: Where available, online learning plus an in-person skills session.

What You'll Learn

Skills You Practice

  • First Aid Foundations: Scene safety, an initial assessment, and when to call 911.
  • CPR and AED for Adults: Chest compressions and rescue breaths, plus how you operate an AED.
  • CPR for Children and Infants: Age-matched compression and ventilation steps.
  • Relief for Choking: Back blows and abdominal thrusts, plus back blows and chest thrusts for infants.
  • Medical Emergencies Covered: Heart attack, stroke, seizure, allergic reaction, diabetic emergencies, and shock.
  • Injury Care: Bleeding control, burns, head and spine injuries, broken bones, and environmental emergencies.

Who Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Is For

Lifeguards, camp counselors, youth sports coaches, personal trainers, fitness instructors, K-12 teachers, other school staff, daycare workers, preschool workers, foster parents, adoptive families, HOA board members, office first-aid responders, and workplace safety teams in manufacturing and construction all fit this class, and so does a parent or a grandparent getting ready at home. Cardiac arrest outside a hospital happens most often in a residence. This class gets you ready for that moment.

Class Formats

Ways the Class Runs

  • Complete Heartsaver Session: Instructor-led First Aid, CPR, and AED, approximately 5 to 6 hours.
  • CPR and AED Only: CPR and AED only, in a shorter class that leaves First Aid out.
  • Blended Learning: At home, complete the AHA online cognitive portion and come in for a short hands-on skills check.
  • Onsite for Groups: For groups of six or more, we can deliver Heartsaver at offices, schools, daycares, or community organizations.
