Inside This Course
Heartsaver CPR & AED builds the skills you need when sudden cardiac arrest or a choking emergency hits, during those first few minutes, prior to emergency medical services arriving. The course comes from the American Heart Association, and the care it covers includes adults, children, plus infants.
Heartsaver is meant for people outside healthcare work: anyone who works in an office, restaurant, school or gym, or a parent at home. When your employer requires one specific certification, check with the compliance contact at your company before you enroll.
Skills You'll Practice
- Adult CPR: High-quality compressions of the chest, and rescue breaths.
- CPR for Children and Infants: How technique changes when the victim is younger.
- Using an AED: The safe way to operate an automated external defibrillator.
- Help for Choking: What to do when adults, children, or infants are choking.
Options for Class
- Classroom: The whole course includes an AHA instructor, practice that is hands-on, and skills testing.
- Blended Learning: Work through AHA's online portion on your own schedule, then take the skills session hands-on with an instructor on our team.
- First Aid Add-On: Need First Aid as well? See Heartsaver First Aid, CPR & AED.
Employees in childcare could need Pediatric Heartsaver in its place. If the right course is unclear, ask us.
